Just got back from a trip with Flock Wildlife Photography and had a great time. Dave and Henry make a great team and I learnt so much from them about birds and their behaviors, photography techniques and post production. I'm looking forward to my next trip with them. Highly recommended for anyone interested in bird photography

The Blue Mountains just west of Sydney are a well known tourist Mecca. Not just for the stunning landscapes, but also the beautiful birds that call the area home.

This intimate 2 night workshop is perfect for anyone interested in learning how to capture better bird photos; from beginner to advanced.

We will be aiming to cover all the basics of bird photography on this tour including the most important camera settings and techniques, as well as fieldcraft.

So if you’ve ever wanted to experience what a Flock Wildlife Tour is all about, then this is the tour for you!

CAMERA SKILL
We pride ourselves on helping you get more from whatever camera you have, and increasing your skills regardless of your experience.
You definitely don't need to be an expert photographer with a super telephoto lens to enjoy this tour. Obviously for birds, the longer the focal length the better, however whatever camera you have there is no doubt that you will still learn a lot and have great fun doing it!

FITNESS
Most days involve early starts however the days are short and we never plan to walk long distances. If you are unsure, just get in touch and we can discuss suitability.

Camera Techniques & Fieldcraft
The reason we have such small groups with 2 guides is to make sure we are constantly at your service to be able to give you advice on every aspect of camera settings & techniques, how to get close to birds, and of course how to capture better images

Set-ups
Our accommodation already has a feeder in place which we will be utilising for some great portraits but also to teach you how to create simple bird bath set-ups at home, or on your travels.

Bush Birds
We’ll be exploring some great bushland across the mountains in search of honeyeaters, lyrebirds and more!

Landscapes
For those into landscape photography we will be making sure we have at least one sunrise and sunset at a stunning lookout to capture some breathtaking images.

Post Production
We find that people would much rather spend the time in the field rather than in front of a computer on our shorter workshops, however we are always happy to talk through any questions you might have.
Also included is a post tour image review session where we get together online and Dave will do a live edit on an image from each guest to further show you what you can achieve.

Spotlighting
With the shorter days, it is much easier to get out after dinner for some spotlighting for any night birds or mammals we might encounter.

* As with any tour, unfortunately we cannot control the weather or indeed the wildlife. We'll do everything in our power to find the best subjects to photograph
* Whilst we want to get great images of as many of the special species from this amazing region as we can; this isn't a tour to try to quickly tick off as many species as possible and move on.
*We always strongly recommend that you organise your own travel and equipment insurance at the time of booking.
